Gammelserie (pronounced Gahm-ool-seh-ree-ah) is technically the finest weight of the Rauma wools, knitting at about 7-8 sts per inch recommended gauge. You will find patterns that call for this yarn, however, and ask for a gauge of as small as 10 or 12 sts per inch. This yarn is interchangable with anything calling for Shetland wool, fingering weight wool or anything between 32 to 28 sts per 4" (10 cms).
