La Gran from Classic Elite is absolutely an industry standard, the classic brushed mohair. (For maximum "hairyness", brush the finished piece lightly with a wire-bristled hairbrush or pet rake.) Mohair takes dye brilliantly, and the fiber is naturally shiny, so the yarn has a wonderful depth of color--and, with over 40 solids, quite a bit of breadth!
What's it for? Warm winter sweaters that look soft and touchable; cardigans and jackets (it's very durable); scarves, hats, and mittens (light but warm, and there's a color to match any coat); add a strand to a strand of wool for felting if you'd like a hazy, fuzzy surface; add a strand to any large-needle project where you want to increase the gauge without adding weight. |
