Baby Partridge Vest
All too often, we’ve had customers come in and ask us for a simple vest pattern for a baby or a small child, only to come up lacking.
Are there vest patterns for kids out there in the world? Sure! However, not every knitter wants an intricately cabled heirloom as a quick gift for a special occasion, and sometimes Stockinette Stitch just doesn’t cut it.
With that in mind, Jen came up with the Baby Partridge Vest. Knit using 1 skein of Schaefer Chris, the cartridge rib pattern (cartridge rhymes with partridge…cute, simple, done!) breaks up any pooling that might occur by using a space-dyed yarn. The pattern holds your attention, but won’t keep you from holding a conversation or watching your favorite TV show.

ERRATA/CORRECTIONS
The pattern should begin as follows: Using smaller needles, cast on 88 (96, 108, 116) sts. Join without twisting and work in k1, p1 rib for 2 (2, 2.5, 2.5, 3)”. On last round, place a marker after working 44 (48, 54, 58) sts to divide for front and back. Switch to larger needles and begin as follows:
Row 1: *k3, sl1 wyib; rep from * to end.
Row 2: *k1, sl1 wyif, k2; rep from * to end.
