A Stocking Cap for Mr. Bennett

Designed by Lisa Myers
In the introduction to her wonderful book, 45 Fine and Fanciful Hats, Anna Zilboorg says that “Wearing cheerful, multicolored hats is a public service, easy to perform, and of incalculable value.” I think the value may be of the sort described by Mr. Bennet in Ch. 57 of Pride and Prejudice, where he asks, “For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbours, and laugh at them in our turn?” In that spirit, I offer this hat pattern, as a wonderful opportunity to play with color and hone one’s stranded-knitting skills – and as a bonus, the product will keep the head warm and entertain the neighbors.
Knit out of one skein each of five colors of Nashua Julia.
